I just wanna say. You guys make the best knives. I abuse the hell out of knives. I picked my first ESEE up years ago because of your warranty. I was thinking man, I’ll be getting a replacement about every year. Nope. My ESEE. 5 is going on 6 years old now and it’s still on my pack every trip into the woods.

CPM 3V is what you want for a bush knife... excellent toughness and it's even called semi-stainless by some folks... use sewing machine oil on it if you are worried about rust and it's safe for food prep.

The key word is Ductility . The ability for a steel to flex without breaking and return to its' original shape. IMO - properly heat treated 1095 excels in ductility. Thanks for this video.

In a pinch you can always just use paracord to form two loops on the belt side (and an x on the other side respectively).

2.5 inches of 1095 no wonder it's overlooked, at that size people tend to go with edge retention, not toughness.

Disappointing. On the charts, S35VN is tougher than 1095. Better in every way. I have other knives with S35VN and no issues. This makes me wonder if it's a problem with this specific knife or the steel Esee is using. I'm a big fan of esee, but tired of the 1095 rusting. Was going to buy a new 3 in S35VN, but not after this.

I love to use a Fällkniven CC4 on my knives. Got my first Izula on the way and I am so happy already for it being my new small EDC fixed blade! For my needs a double ceramic pocket stone is usually enough, especially for carbon steel. (Even comes in a leather pouch with a rough back side for stropping.) I also love to hone and strop me knoif every chance I can get! 🥰

The jg3 is my favorite esee so far. I have the jg3, the 6, and 4hm. The jg3 fits my hand so well as to not fatigue, comes to a razor edge and is easy to carry horizontally at 11 o’clock. I did upgrade the sheath to kydex, and the handle I soaked in oil.. I love this knife

Hello guys! Would be nice to see more videos on the regular basis. You guys are the greatest I have the ESEE 3 in 1095 and would not trade it with anything else. I use it and carry it every day. Mostly in the house but love to do any kind of carving with it also. A great company and great people. I really like the Amazon Jungle training adventures and hopefully (soon) I can sign up for that.

I bought this exact knife two weeks ago at Buds Gun Shop in Sevierville TN. It is such a fine knife for its intended purpose. Personally, I would never baton this knife unless my life was on the line. I have other great tools for processing fire wood. I appreciate your honesty in sharing how you broke your knife. Please don’t be offended if you ever ask me to loan you a knife and I hand you a beater knife and not my ESSEE 3. Mike from Tuscaloosa Alabama

Excellent video! Oldie but goodie! HPG is really the only company I trust with packs, and I love their kit bags to extend their packs. The fact that any pack and be a pocket(attachment) for any other pack is amazing! I currently rock the Tarahumara, Umlindi, and Junction (depending what the trip is like) then I rock the original kit bag filled with all the stuff I want on my person.

Love the honesty. I picked up the S35VN ESEE 4 for smaller tasks, not trying to baton thick logs. I keep an axe/hatchet or the ESEE 6 1095 for that. Though 3V would be great. Or now Magnacut for the ESEE 4. Hope to see new options soon, this video is 4 years old!

I’ve been looking for a 2.5” fixed blade EDC knife for I don’t know how many years. I’ve played with about half a dozen other knives that are similar in size, but a little over or under the 2.5” blade length. I’m not a fan of folding knives, and I live in Chicago where possession of a knife with a blade length greater than 2.5” may lead to a misdemeanor or municipal weapons charge. I’ve carried almost everything in the Shivworks catalog and almost everything in the TDI catalog, but have never been happy with the handle shapes or the blade lengths. I’ve always known Esee, but I never knew about this model. As soon as I heard about it, I ordered one and ordered a custom kydex sheath. I’m sorry for the long winded comment, but I just wanted to say thank you for making this knife design and bringing it to market.
